Millions of individuals with speech disabilities and impairments, such as those associated with Down syndrome and cerebral palsy, face significant communication barriers. Often, their speech is difficult for others to understand, creating obstacles to independence, education, employment, and social inclusion. Currently, solutions for these challenges remain limited and lack adaptability to individual needs, leaving caregivers as primary interpreters. This dependence hinders autonomy and broad communication.
The HearMe project proposes an AI-powered translator designed specifically for individuals with speech disabilities or impairments. This innovative solution will enable users to speak into a device using their natural speech patterns.
